Dr. Dharma
deSilva is Rudd Distinguished Fellow, Professor of International
Business, Marketing & Management at the Barton School of Business,
Wichita State University, where he has established and directs the
International Business Program with multi disciplinary units on campus
and business community via the World Trade Council of Wichita [WTCouncil]
strategic alliance. The model enabled him to win a series of
competitive U.S. Department of Education/BIE research grants and
national recognition. He has directed USED/BIE grants to enhance
institutional linkages and International Business education, housed in
the Center for International Business Advancement [CIBA]. Dr. deSilva is
the founding Director of CIBA and WTCouncil. Dr. deSilva was the first
University Professor and Founding Dean, Faculty of Management Studies at
SJPU [Vidyodya University of Sri Lanka] and pioneered the management
education model with Stanford, Indiana and other agency collaboration to
introduce the first integrated 4 year undergraduate Bachelor’s, and
two-year postgraduate MBA & MPA, MEcon, professional programs in
1966/68.
Dr. deSilva had
his education in Sri Lanka, England and USA receiving his Bachelor's,
Master's and PhD degrees. He has been a Fulbright Scholar at Harvard and
Indiana; a Ford Fellow at Ohio State and Stanford; and a Visiting
Professor at Indiana, Stanford, Wichita State, CSU Sacramento, and
several European and Asian universities. He has served as a Senior
Fulbright Specialist at NCCU Taiwan, FHW Berlin, University of Canberra,
University of Malaysia Pahang assisting in establishing management
education university-industry collaboration models.
Dr.
deSilva has authored nearly 50 articles, a book (Glossary of Management
in English and Sinhala ed.) and over 100 professional presentations.

of the Business School Curricula of the AOM-AIB joint-committee.

Dr. deSilva
serves as Chair of the Executive Board of Directors of the World Trade
Council of Wichita, Inc. which he is a founder member in affiliation
with Wichita Metro Chamber of Commerce and WSU-CIBA. The Directorate of
MNCs is the ‘who's who’ of Kansas international business and serve as
the advisory council to CIBA & USED grants. During his continued
tenure as Chair he has organized and conducted with trained AIESEC
students, 35 Annual World Trade Week regional trade confabs, over 400
country Embassy, Consulates General/trade agency & company monthly
programs, and over 110 educational seminars in international trade that
won the US President's "E"& "E-Star” Awards for continued outstanding
professional export service excellence.
Among organized and conducted annual World Trade Weeks featured the
ASEAN-10 Ambassadors and 19 trade dignitaries [2004]; and historic twin
events in 2006 WTW Honors EU-25 with the EU Presidency and in
conjunction “Internationalization & Business School Curricula” Symposium
& Workshops in the AACSB core areas conducted by 28 IB textbook
authors/experts co-sponsored by 21 USED-funded CIBERs and BIEs,
attracting over 500 business executives and professors,
followed by World Trade Week Honors CHINA, INDIA, SAARC,
ARAB-GULF STATES, CIS, MERCUSOR, ASEAN, NAFTA [2011].
He was
consulted in the establishment of World Trade Centers in Sri Lanka [See
Econ Rev Dec 1991. Proposal to Sri Lanka President], Denver,
Wichita, Malaysia, and served as Senior Advisor to Sri Lanka’s Trade
Ministry to establish the World Trade Co-coordinating Council with
Export Development Board and Chambers of Commerce/Industry. He has
advised ProVice-Chancellor, University of Canberra, AUSTRADE and ACT
government in forming Canberra Export Club which resulted in an exchange
linkage between UC-WSU; and similarly advised Berlin School of
Economics following a joint trade conference, and assisted to
team-teach the International Business & Marketing Strategy course for
MBA [Europe] at FHW Berlin. He has served as a consultant to United
Nations, ILO, APO [Japan]. He is a past President of Sri Lanka
Association for the Advancement of Science [Sec.F].and a
founder/President, Colombo Junior Chamber of Commerce {Jaycees}.
Dr. deSilva is
a Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute [UK], and holds
membership in Academy of Management, Academy of International Business,
and several other Asian professional associations. He is regularly
invited for consultations/lectures by universities and professional
trade organizations in several Asia-Pacific and European nations. He
has served various Kansas Governors’ International Trade Task Force and
Steering Committees, and was appointed by the Governor to the Kansas
Cavalry. Over two decades he has served on the Governor's KDOC
International Trade Coordinating Council, Mayor's Economic Planning Task
Force and US DOC Mid-America District Export Council appointed by the US
Secretary of Commerce. Dr. deSilva was elected to the Fulbright Senior
Specialist Roster and is one of the first recipients of the Fulbright
Senior Specialist Award, serving at CCNU Taiwan in 2002, Dr. deSilva
received WSU President’s Award for Outstanding Achievement, the 2006 WTC
Award for 30 years of distinguished service established the “Dr. Dharma
deSilva Endowed International Business Scholarship & Professorship, the
WSU Alumni Association Distinguished Faculty Achievement Award and
World Trade Center Peace through Trade Award . Dr. deSilva is the first
recipient of Rudd Foundation Fellow for distinguished service. In 2009,
Dr. deSilva was elected a Fellow Pan Pacific Business Association in
Shenzhen, China. In 2010-11 on invitations as distinguished professor he
has conducted seminars/lectures in 9 countries. In 2011 Dr.deSilva
received the appointment of Senior Advisor to the Ministry of Higher
Education, Government of Sri Lanka.
